Bourgeois Shalayne Hunziker
Well it looks like it is that time again……Fort Bridger Rendezvous. It always amazes me how fast it comes and goes every year. It is such an honor to be a part of the board of directors, a member of the association and your 2019 Booshway. Fort Bridger has always been a part of my life, from going as a little girl, to taking my son every year, to being on the board, being Segundo and then Booshway. The Rendezvous has always been something I have enjoyed. I have so many great memories form all my years attending the Rendezvous.
I look forward to making many more great memories. I hope you all have your own great memories and also continue making more!!! I look forward to serving as your Booshway again this year and working with our amazing board of directors, the Fort Bridger site employees, the Fort Bridger Historic Association , The State of Wyoming, all the great volunteers that all help make this HUGE event happen. I promise I will do my best to make sure this is the best Fort Bridger Rendezvous ever!!! Thank you for all your support!!! We could never make the Rendezvous a success without you all!!!
Segundo Nancy Turner
Hello all Fort Bridger Rendezvous Association Members. My name is Nancy Turner, and I am so excited to be your 2019 Segundo. Most of you may
remember me as the secretary. I have been doing that job for the last 4 years. It has been great getting to know all of you, and I am excited to work on this amazing F.B.R.A. Board.
I’ve been married to Dave Turner for 30 great years, and some of you might know him. He is the one that shoots off the candy cannon. I also have two married sons, and I am a grandma to two amazing grandchildren, Bentley and Hadlee. Those grandchildren make life great, and forgive my son for all of the gray hairs. Dave and I grew up in Utah. We were high school sweethearts and met on Valentine’s Day. I love to watch the family unity at the cannon shoot, and of course smelling the great food being cooked at the Dutch Oven Contest. It is a great experience. I love walking around and shopping at the trader tents, and the friendships that I have made over the years. It is especially unique to walk the fort at night to see all of the campfires and watch family and friends gather to sing songs and tell stories. There is nothing else like our Fort Bridger Rendezvous. I am excited to be your 2019 Segundo, and look forward to meeting more of you,
2018 Bourgeois and Segundo
Bourgeois Heather Shell and Segundo Shalayne Hunziker
For those of you that do not know me, my name is Heather Shell and I am so excited and very honored to be the Booshway for 2018. I have been on the board for a few years now, and every year it is so exciting to help put this Rendezvous together. As I have said in the past it is a lot of work, but it is so rewarding to be a part of this huge family event. We have a wonderful board of directors, there are 13 amazing people who volunteer hundreds of hours of their time to make this rendezvous so memorable. I am honored to have Shalayne Hunziker as our Segundo, not only for her knowledge and love of this rendezvous, but because she has become a mentor and friend. I am so thankful for the support of my husband Dave, my girls, and my family because without it the hours put into this event would not mean as much. XOXOX Before I start to ramble, I’d like to thank you. Without you, there would be no new memories, no new friends, no family tradition, no rendezvous. So thank you!
We’ll see you this fall!
I would like to take a quick second and introduce myself. My name is Shalayne Hunziker and I am very honored to be this year’s Segundo. Fort Bridger has been a part of my life every since I can remember. When I was little Fort Bridger was just what we did every Labor Day weekend. As I grew up it became much more, my dad joined the Board of directors and later became Booshway in 2002, 2012 and again in 2016. While watching him on the board, it made me want to help and be a part of putting on this great event. While being on the board, people always ask me what is so great about Fort Bridger, Why should I go. What is so great about Fort Bridger? It’s seeing old friends, making new friends, the weekend camping trip, all of the events that you can participate in or watch while they take place, to just being able to spend time with family. What makes Fort Bridger Rendezvous so great is what you make of it. It is something that you have to experience for yourself. Once you attend the rendezvous you will be hooked and will want to come back every year.
Thank you for allowing me to be your Segundo a second time! I promise I will; along with our Booshway, Heather Shell and the rest of the FBRA board will do my best to make sure this year will be another great rendezvous. As the year leads up to the 2018 Rendezvous you may have a question or two, if so please don’t hesitate to call, text or email myself or any board member and we will do our best to answer all the questions you have. I look forward to seeing every one of you. See you soon!!

Bourgeois Bob Christensen
My name is Bob Christensen (True Story), and I’m honored to be your Booshway for 2017. I have been involved with the Board for the last couple of years and am looking forward to working with them to put on the second largest event in Wyoming. I was born and raised in Wyoming, and thanks to my parents, were exposed to the mountains from an early age. I think that I never got over the fascination of the fur trade era since the 4 th grade. Few things give me more enjoyment as watching the snow sift through the smoke flaps in my teepee during a winter hunting camp or riding horses in full buckskins. I hope never to get to old to dream and imagine what it was like during that time. It is the goal for me and each board member to create memorable experience for all those who attend the Fort Bridger Rendezvous. I look forward to seeing you at Fort Bridger Rendezvous next Labor Day weekend.
Your Booshway 2017
Segundo Heather Shell
Just a quick minute to reintroduce myself to old friends and the ones I’ve yet to meet. My name is Heather Shell, and it is an honor to serve as Segundo in 2017! My family and I have been enjoying this Rendezvous forever! While Shooting seems to be the most popular event with my family, I’ve been known to toss a pan, heard some kids, tug a rope and even wander around chatting/shopping under the guise of a Dog Soldier. I have been on the Board for 2 years while it is a lot of work; it is very rewarding to see this huge Family Event come together. I am truly grateful for the support of my husband Dave and my daughters. I can’t Thank all my family enough! We have a wonderful Board of Directors this year, with years of combined experience and wealth of knowledge to make this rendezvous memorable. I’m looking forward to working with this board, our Booshway Bob Christensen, and you!
See Ya Later!
2016 Bourgeois and Segundo
Bourgeois Eugene Fowles
I am your 2016 Booshway, Eugene Fowles. This will be my third time as Booshway. I hope this means 3 strikes and you’re out.
A lot of you know me but those who don’t, I will tell you a little about me. I have been on the board of Directors for the Fort Bridger Rendezvous Association for over 14 years, and been Booshway 3 times, 2006, 2012 and now 2016. I have a great and supportive wife, Maria, a super daughter Shalayne who was Booshway last year, 2015. I have a wonderful son-in-law Paul, and a terrific grandson, Dylan.
I love to hunt, fish, trap, and anything I can do outdoors in the mountains. I own and operate sawmill. I harvest my own timber. I was a Masonry Contractor until I semi-retired 2 years ago. I am a Taxidermist and enjoy working with wood. I also paint a little with oils.
I have a great passion for Fort Bridger Rendezvous and will do my best to keep and make it the best Rendezvous in the country.
I know since I been on the Board we have had a lot of changes. Most have been for the good. And some have needed improvement. But I believe that for most part we do present a Great Rendezvous.
I think I will end this now so I don’t bore you completely to death.
We will have more latter in the Rendezvous Guide.

My name is Bob Christensen, mountain name True Story. I have been involved with rendezvousing and Fort Bridger since the early 1980′s. I have always been a student of the era and few things give me more enjoyment than learning about their way of life. I look forward to spending time in the back country with my horses and imagination. I have been a trader at Fort Bridger for many years. My wife and two boys have attended many rendezvous events throughout the years which has given me a good perspective for being a family event.
I am very excited to be the Segundo this year and am absorbing the task with enthusiasm and anticipation. Although I am relatively new with the administration portion of the rendezvous, I am comforted with the knowledge of having a board with vast experience and willingness to help. Finally, Eugene Fowles, who has proven to be one of the most skilled Bourgeois, will be there to show me how to guide a successful rendezvous.
I look forward to meeting you,
2015 Bourgeois and Segundo
Bourgeois Shalayne Hunziker
It is that time of year again when we all gather together and do what we love……Rendezvous. It surprises me just how fast the year goes and how fast Fort Bridger gets here!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Shalayne Hunziker and I am very excited to serve as your 2015 booshway. Let me just tell you how amazing it is to have this honor. I have been rendezvousing my whole life and I LOVE it! I have a pretty cool son, Dylan that loves the rendezvous as much I as do. He is 17 and told me one day he wants to be booshway at Fort Bridger too. He has been attending Ft. Bridger ever since he was born and has not missed a year. I have an amazing husband Paul that always supports me in everything I do. I got him roped into the rendezvous and he loves it as much I as do. Another thing about me is I LOVE to hunt! I must say Bear hunting is my favorite!
I have been helping with the kids games the last 3 years and I love how many kids we have that participate and seem to love the rendezvous. I also love watching them out at the Knife and Hawke range. They get so excited when they stick their hawk for the first time. I hope that they will continue to follow in their parent’s footsteps and keep the traditions of Fort Bridger going. We have so many great events for all ages. I hope you can get out and see them all and participate in as many as possible.
I am super excited to work with this year’s Segundo Eugene Fowles. As I am sure most of you might know him from his 2 years, yes I said 2 years serving as booshway in 2006 and 2012, but what some of you might not know he is also my dad. Isn’t this a great way to spend extra time with my and dad? Fort Bridger as most of you might know is the 2nd biggest event in Wyoming, and as a board we are working very hard to prepare for the rendezvous. It always surprises me how much time it takes to get this up and going. There are so many little things that must get done and can’t be over looked. We have an incredible board that I get the pleasure to work with. They all work so hard making sure that every little detail is taken care of, every event is ready and everything is in place for the rendezvous. I know that with all of us working together this will be an amazing rendezvous and one to remember.
As the big day gets closer you might have questions, so please don’t hesitate to call or email myself or any board member and we will do our best to answer them.
I look forward to seeing you all at the 43rd annual Fort Bridger Rendezvous!
Segundo Eugene Fowles
My name is Eugene Fowles, and I am writing this letter because I was dumb enough to become your Segundo again for the third time.
I know some of you know me, but for those who don’t, here is a little about me. I am a Masonry Contractor, Taxidermist, and own and operate a Saw Mill.
I was raised mostly in the mountains, cutting timber for the mill, I guess that is why I love the Mountain Man Image so much. I grew up logging, fishing, trapping, hunting and camping. Like a lot of others, I was born in the wrong time period.
I have been Rendezvousing for over 40 years.
I have been involved in the shooting programs for the Western Nationals. As a member of Utahah Frontiersmen I have helped put on the shooting at Dog Valley for many years. I have been on the Ft Bridger Rendezvous Association Board for 12 years and Booshway at Ft Bridger twice and now I will do it again for the third time. I enjoy working on the board, and am proud to serve again as Booshway.
I will be serving as Segundo for my daughter, Shalayne who will be Booshway in 2015. I am really proud of her and excited to be her Segundo. We both have the support of our Family, My wife Maria, my son-in-law Paul and my grandsons, Dylan, and Mataeo. As every member of the board knows, we cannot fulfill these positions without the support of families and each other and we appreciate that support.
As for me I want to thank my wife for all she does for me and the support she gives me, I could not do this without her.
For my daughter Shalayne, I am ready to help and support her in any way I can as Booshway, which is why I choose to be her Segundo.
That is probably enough babbling on for now. I will say Good Rendezvous and will see ya around.
P.S. I you want to know more, give me a call and we can talk!
2014 Bourgeois and Segundo
Bourgeois Susie Bridge
Greetings from Wyoming,
Each year we as a board are asked to take a few minutes and introduce ourselves to all of you. I am the mother of 6 children, all grown now and making me crazy. I am very proud of all of my children and the fact that we are a blended family gives flavor to our lives.
I was born in Florida, the granddaughter to two Echota Cherokee grandmothers. I have loved this area and came here as a young girl moving with the oil field. I met my husband in Utah while we were both going to school. He is originally from Lyman Wyoming, Bridger Valley where this great Rendezvous has been for over 40 years.
My first time to attend this Rendezvous was in the early 80’s and I have loved it ever since. We began bringing our children each year for many reasons. We have enjoyed all the speakers, entertainers, merchants and people. The Indian dancers were and still are my family’s favorite thing. We have not missed one Fort Bridger Rendezvous in over 25 years to say I am hooked is an understatement.
After many years of enjoying and participating in the many events I realized that it was time to volunteer my time and service so that this great and amazing experience may continue. Now having said this I by no means am indicating that one person runs this event. This Rendezvous is the second largest event on state grounds in the great state of Wyoming. This event literally takes over 700 hours from more than 12 boardmembers. This does not include all the hours given lovingly and faithfully by the many many volunteers. I am so very proud to work side by side with all of them. I am only one of many that give and give of themselves and their personal time on a daily basis throughout the year so that this event can remain for generations to come.
This year I have the privilege and honor to serve side by side with my Segundo Shalayne Hunziker. I realize that this is the first time in the history of the Fort Bridger Rendezvous that there has been a woman Bourgeois and Segundo but I will tell you this Neither of us takes this lightly. This is not about gender or accolades this is about preserving a time in history and passing it onto our children. I believe that in this day and age, our society needs the past more than ever. My hope and desire is that this year will be full of wonderful, familiar fun and new and up building experiences. May we all learn more about our past so that we may share it with the children of the future.
I want to thank you for taking a moment to read this letter from me. As I write this note to you I am humbled at how blessed my life truly is.
I am so excited to share this time with all of you
Segundo Shalayne Hunziker
Hello my name is Shalayne Hunziker
I am very excited to be your 2014 Segundo.
And I’m even more excited to work with our amazing Booshway “Susan Bridge” and our great FBRA board.
Let me tell you a little about myself…. I have been going to rendezvous my whole life. I have been to many rendezvous in Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho. But my favorite rendezvous is and always has been Fort Bridger. As a little girl I always looked forward to Labor Day weekend. I knew I would get to spend the weekend at Fort Bridger with my family and friends. It was always exciting to see all the traders and all the different people that attended the event. I loved to go watch my dad participate in the shooting events. I would sit at the shooting range all day watching. I also enjoyed watching and participating in the knife and hawk throws. The cannon shoot was another event I didn’t miss. As I got older and my dad got more involved with the FBRA I got to see all of the other events and contests that went on at the rendezvous. WOW how amazing!! Who knew there were so many events that went on? That’s when I knew I wanted to be a part of helping to make this rendezvous happen. While my dad was booshway I got to help him with the shooting program and followed him around like a puppy dog. I’m sure he got sick of me following him, but I was watching the things he did, he would talk to the traders to see how they were doing, ask tourist what they thought about the rendezvous. He would go to every contest and event to see if everyone was having a good time. And my favorite, giving little kids a $1 trader buck just to see their eyes light up cause the booshway had given them a dollar that they got to spend. That’s what made me know I wanted to be a part of the board that makes this all happen.
I am blessed to have a great family that supports me. My son Dylan has been attending Fort Bridger ever since he was 3 months old and he has never missed a year. Now that he is 16 and growing up he still looks forward to going every year. I have a very supportive husband Paul; we have been married for 4 years, and a great step son Mataeo. As soon as Bridger is over, it’s time to get home and ready to go hunting. I love to hunt!! My most favorite hunt has got to be my bear hunts! Every hunt is always amazing and completely unforgettable. But any hunt with my family is always fun and lots of great memories.
I have been on the board for 3 years now. It has been so amazing to see what it takes to put this huge event on. With all the time it takes to plan and prepare for this great rendezvous. It has been a lot of hard work, but so worth it!! I know we have a lot of hard work in the months to come to get the rendezvous ready, But I am looking forward to helping the board put on another great rendezvous! I am so grateful for all of you that help us as a board make this “magic” happen. We couldn’t do any of it with out ALL of you!
