A. Here we are, rolling into July. Can you believe it? The rendezvous will be here before we know it. I hope you have had time to get into the mountains this summer to cool off. While you’ve been picnicking our board of directors and other volunteers in conjunction with Wyoming Parks have been giving the Fort Bridger sight a makeover. Check out our web site for photos. All 3 bridges, flag pole, trim on both guard houses, commissary building and front of museum have new paint. Thank you everyone for your hard work and dedication. The mentoring program is in full swing. Volunteers who shadow a board member will be assigned a temporary gorget while working with a board member. Volunteers can earn a dog Soldier medallion for helping out. Signup in registration or the dog solider tent. This year our Dutch oven contest has got a makeover too. See attached Flyer or check out our web site for the rules. The stage is set, are you ready? See you soon.

B. Time for the GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING it will be held at the Fort Bridger Wyoming on July 8th 2017 at 12 noon. We will be meeting under the bowery east of the Fort grounds. Now is the time to meet the board and express any concerns you have. Remember we like positive comments too! If you would like to get involved and be a volunteer, this would be a good time to show your interest.

C. One of my highlights of the Fort Bridger Rendezvous is to take an evening stroll with my sweetheart. Many of you add to the romance of Bridger by setting the stage. There is nothing quite like it, walking over to an old friends camp. We enjoy the glow of a teepee and the Candle Lantern. It’s a real treat to tell stories and sing around the fire with friends. And laugh of cores. Over the years I have seen the Milky Way so clear, it’s like you can touch it. Many a year, we have walked back to camp in the rain and sometimes snow. It’s all been good, memories forever. But lately there are some folks that seem to think it okay to use flash lights after dark. I would like to remind everyone this is a pre-1840 event. And night time is some of best part of rendezvous. If you have people in your party who use modern lighting and clothing morning and evening. Please remind them this is a pre-1840 Rendezvous. The Dog Soldiers can’t be everywhere. Please help us out. Nuf said!
D. We are completely full for camp spaces on the Fort grounds. There are some camp spots still available in Primitive overflow area. Please contact Nancy Turner thru our website http://www.fortbridgerrendezvous.net for availability.
E. Traders, just as a reminder at Rendezvous on Thursday & Friday night, we have a “mandatory” traders meeting over by the bandstand. The board will discuss items of information at this time. Also, this meeting is for you as traders to ask questions and to voice any concerns you may have. (See you there!)
F. Website update: We have been working very hard at updating our web site. It looks a lot cleaner and more organized has a lot of the same information as before plus we will be adding more as time go on. You can now bring up our site on your cell phone and see full screen. Look it up and let us know what you think. {See link below}
